Microneedling
P.I.N. is a method of introducing a controlled wound into the skin triggering a release of natural growth factors, new collagen & elastin. This process causes much less damage to the epidermis than dermal rolling or lasers and other ablative treatments, which helps to protect the new skin cell growth providing for quicker healing, higher success rates and longer lasting results.
What Is Automated Micro-needling?
Automated Micro-Needling (also known as Percutaneous Collagen Induction Therapy or PCIT) is a new innovation in aesthetic medicine for the treatment of fine lines, acne scars and improvement of the skin’s appearance. During this procedure, tiny needles are used to create controlled micro-injuries to the skin in order to produce collagen and elastin. The skin’s repair process results in a thicker dermis with the appearance of softer wrinkles. Automated micro-needling also creates superficial micro-channels, which allow topical serums and creams to be absorbed more effectively into the skin. Collagen P.I.N. is the most advanced medical-grade automated micro-needling device on the market.
How Is Collagen P.I.N. Different from the Dermal Needling Rollers of the Past?
Micro-needling rollers are the previous generation of needling devices. One of the many drawbacks of dermal rollers is the fixed needle or penetration depth (i.e. 0.5mm) which is not very conducive when treating an area like the face which requires different depths due to the varying thickness of skin tissue, depending on the area(s) being treated. Therefore, having a fixed needle depth or penetration level is a huge drawback when trying to customize a treatment for consistency. Collagen P.I.N. ™ has an adjustable needle depth that allows your skin care provider to adjust penetration depth throughout the entire treatment. This will allow the medical provider to properly address the specific needs of thinner skin on your lower eyelids, crow’s feet, and forehead. Additionally, where the tissue is thicker in other areas, like the upper lip, cheeks (due to fat pads), neck and décolletage, the necessary adjustments can easily be treated with 1 needle tip instead of 5 or 6 needle rollers. The other dramatic difference is in the type of injury that occurs using the Collagen P.I.N. versus a Dermal Needling Roller.
How Is Collagen P.I.N. Different from Lasers?
When used correctly resurfacing lasers can be a great tool for treating aging skin. However, lasers use focused light to produce heat to destroy certain colors of pigmentation and vaporize skin. This is great for targeting dark spots but often leads to complications when treating patients with naturally darker skin. Collagen P.I.N. ™ breaks up pigment mechanically and remodels the collagen without heat or the light. When the heat is removed from the process, it makes for a much safer, more comfortable and more consistent treatment. No heat also equals less downtime! Most Collagen P.I.N. ™ patients have a healthy pink glow immediately after the procedure, which lessens dramatically within 24 hours or less. Most patients are back to work the same day and out to dinner the same evening and experience little to no downtime.
How Is the Procedure Done?
When the client arrives, a topical anesthetic is applied to the skin to allow numbing in order to make the procedure more comfortable. A sterile needle-tip containing 12 to 36(optional) tiny micro-needles is attached to the Collagen P.I.N. ™. Your skincare professional will apply a thin layer of topical serum to your skin and select the appropriate treatment depth based on your unique needs. Next, in a single motion, the Collagen P.I.N. will be gently glided across the skin in one direction until the entire treatment area has been covered.More than one pass may be required in order to achieve desired results. This results in thousands of microscopic channels throughout the entire treatment area.
What Is PRP/PRFM?
Microneedling can be combined with:
Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy, the topical application of your own plasma during a micro-needling treatment in order to enhance the micro-needling treatment and thereby achieving further firming and tightening results.
PRFM Therapy, purports to rejuvenate the skin by INJECTING your own blood plasma under your dermis, to stimulate cell growth and collagen production. It will also enhance dermal fillers and other cosmetic injectables. PRFM has become quite a sought-after non-surgical procedure. It promises to improve complexion and texture and restore lost facial volume. PRFM may be used as a stand alone treatment or added to microneedling or other cosmetic injection services.
Platelet Rich Plasma and PRFM Therapy involves the process of having a small amount of blood drawn in our office, which is then put in a centrifuge machine in order to separate the plasma from the platelets. The plasma is then applied topically during the micro-needling procedure or injecting just under the facial skin.
Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Skin Rejuvenation Treatment is an advanced and ground-breaking anti-aging treatment physicians use to help repair damaged or injured tissues in the body. This minimally invasive procedure helps initiate the regenerative process by utilizing the growth factors that platelets are known to contain. PRP Skin Rejuvenation Treatment is autologous, meaning it is derived from the patient, therefore reducing the risk of rejection or allergic reaction.
The human body is a highly resilient system, able to heal itself in ways that can often seem magical. Sometimes our body needs help in certain places where it has reduced blood flow and therefore our system sees no need for healing at all. Examples of these circumstances can be scars on your face or body, sun damaged skin around your eyes, translucency on the back of your hands, loose skin and wrinkles around your mouth.
PRP is a procedure that uses your own blood to repair your cells. It has proven its effectiveness at addressing aesthetic problems. Since your own blood has amazing healing properties, this treatment has revolutionized the reversal of skin aging and damage.
This treatment is not as new as you may think. It has been used by oral surgeons to assist the healing process following oral and maxillofacial reconstructive procedures and plastic surgeons utilize this procedure to promote healing after facial surgery. Over the past decade PRP has become more popular when used to regenerate skin tissues under the eyes, around the jawbone and mouth, under the chin, on the neck, smoker’s lines on the upper lip and many more.
