Body Contouring

Stubborn pockets of fat and lack of muscle tone can be difficult to change, even with consistent effort. Body contouring can help problem areas by reducing volume in some places and increasing definition in others. Treatments are non-surgical, so there is no need for incisions, anesthesia, downtime, or discomfort.

At De La Belle Body & Wellness in Memphis, you can shape your body gradually and intentionally, focusing on zones like your abdomen, thighs, arms, or buttocks. Whether your goal is more muscle tone, less fat, improved skin elasticity, or all three, our treatment plans can help you see visible change.

What Is Body Contouring?

Body contouring refers to a category of nonsurgical treatments designed to reshape the body by reducing unwanted fat, tightening skin and improving muscle definition. These procedures target zones that tend to resist traditional diet and exercise efforts, giving you a little extra help where you need it most.

The technologies behind body contouring vary, but most use some combination of temperature, electromagnetic energy or radiofrequency. Each session moves you closer to a more sculpted silhouette.

Why Consider Body Contouring?

Stubborn Fat Pockets

Localized fat in areas like the abdomen, flanks, thighs, or upper arms can remain even if you concentrate on physical activity and good nutrition. Body contouring can help reduce the fat in these areas by breaking down fat cells and shrinking them. Most treatments do not require downtime and allow you to resume normal activity shortly afterward.

Lack of Muscle Definition

Toning muscles takes time and consistency. Certain body contouring technologies use electromagnetic energy to contract muscle fibers far more deeply and efficiently than voluntary exercise. These treatments provide stronger, firmer-looking muscles in areas like the abs or glutes.

Mild Skin Laxity

Some body contouring treatments can help with mild skin tightening by promoting collagen production. While they are not a substitute for surgical skin removal for those with extreme amounts of excess skin, these treatments can make a noticeable difference for mild to moderate laxity and even help with the appearance of cellulite.

Postpartum Body Changes

Pregnancy changes your body in ways that can feel hopelessly permanent, including shifts in fat distribution, skin tone, and muscle separation. Certain body contouring options address these issues by supporting core strength and helping with localized fat. Treatments are non-invasive and may be used once your provider clears you for this type of care.

The Benefits of Body Contouring

The benefits of body contouring include convenience, precision, and gradual body reshaping without surgical downtime. You can focus on specific areas without impacting surrounding tissues. Body contouring also offers these benefits:

  • No incisions, anesthesia, or downtime
  • Comfortable, non-invasive treatment process
  • Minimal interruption to daily activity
  • Gradual results that develop between sessions

Infrared Sauna Sessions

Infrared sauna sessions use radiant heat to warm your body directly. This dry heat penetrates deeply into muscles and tissues and encourages detoxification through sweat. Each session can support calorie burning and metabolic activity and can be used to help manage weight and improve overall wellness. Infrared saunas stay at a lower, more tolerable temperature than steam saunas and allow for longer sessions with fewer side effects like dizziness or overheating.

Comfortable, Deep-Heating Detox Support

Sweating is a key process for eliminating stored toxins, and the infrared sauna can enhance this process without placing stress on the body. Infrared light encourages the release of compounds like mercury, lead, and other environmental toxins. Sessions in the infrared sauna can support immune responses and overall cellular health.

Weight and Fat Reduction Support

Each infrared sauna session can help burn up to 600 calories by raising the pulse and increasing metabolic rate. As the body heats up and begins to sweat, stored fat becomes more water-soluble and easier to release. Subcutaneous fat begins to break down as your body temperature rises, and consistent sessions may support better weight control. When combined with smart nutrition and activity habits, this therapy can become a helpful tool for body contouring and weight management, and sessions are priced at $1 per minute.

PHYSIQ Muscle Sculpting

PHYSIQ is a non-invasive treatment that uses a combination of electrical muscle stimulation and deep heating to support body reshaping. Each session uses up to four applicators, so we can treat multiple areas in one appointment. Treatments are quiet, quick, and comfortable.

Dual Technology for More Control

PHYSIQ uses deep heat (super luminescent diode matrix, or SDM) and electrical muscle stimulation (EMS) to create two distinct effects in one session. The heat targets the outer layer of tissue while the EMS contracts the underlying muscles. These alternating phases are timed and controlled using a system that adjusts energy levels automatically.

Treatment Experience and Scheduling

Non-invasive body contouring with PHYSIQ takes around 30 to 60 minutes, depending on how many zones are treated. The applicators are secured with straps, so you can stay relaxed throughout the session without needing to reposition. Most patients benefit from a series of treatments spaced about one week apart. There is no need for special preparation or recovery, but your skin may feel a little warm after your session.

Venus Legacy™ Body Contouring & Skin Tightening

Venus Legacy uses multi-polar radiofrequency combined with pulsed electromagnetic fields to gently heat the skin and underlying tissue. Treatments are non-invasive and can improve elasticity while refining body contours. Each session is comfortable and requires no recovery.

How Venus Legacy Works

Venus Legacy uses radiofrequency energy and pulsed electromagnetic fields to gently heat the skin and the tissue just below it. This type of energy helps improve circulation and can support a more toned, firm appearance in treated areas. The device also uses a gentle suction feature called VariPulse™, which helps bring the skin closer to the applicator so the heat is delivered more evenly. The treatment does not damage the surface of the skin and feels similar to a warm massage. It can be used on areas like the abdomen, thighs, arms, buttocks, and neck.

What to Expect from Treatment

Most Venus Legacy sessions last between 30 and 45 minutes, depending on the size and number of areas being treated. The treatment feels like a warm massage, with a rolling motion and gentle suction as the device moves across the skin. Numbing is not needed for this treatment. A full series typically includes six to eight treatments, spaced about one week apart.

Pairing GLP-1 Weight Loss With Body Contouring

Body contouring treatments are most effective when the body is already on a positive trajectory. For many patients, that trajectory begins with medically supervised weight loss. At De La Belle Body & Wellness, we offer GLP-1 weight loss as part of our comprehensive medical weight loss program, and we regularly see patients who are using GLP-1 alongside non-surgical body contouring to achieve more complete, lasting results.

What Are GLP-1 Medications?

GLP-1 (glucagon-like peptide-1) receptor agonists are a class of once-weekly injectable medications that help reduce appetite, slow gastric emptying, and support significant fat loss. First approved by the FDA for the treatment of type 2 diabetes, they were later approved under brand names such as Wegovy for the treatment of obesity in adults. Clinical trials have shown an average body weight reduction of up to 18% over the course of GLP-1 treatment, making this approach an excellent way to prepare the body for more effective body contouring results.

Why Pair GLP-1 With Body Contouring?

Even successful weight loss, whether through GLP-1 medications, lifestyle changes, or a combination, often leaves behind stubborn pockets of localized fat and skin laxity. This is exactly where body contouring treatments like PHYSIQ Muscle Sculpting and Venus Legacy thrive. Combining these approaches gives patients the benefit of an energy-based device and a non-surgical contouring treatment, allowing for truly comprehensive results.

From there, she builds a plan that may include GLP-1 medications, nutritional coaching, and a targeted body contouring protocol. All of these levers work together to help you lose weight, reshape and refine your body with careful intention and a focus on longevity.

Choosing the Right Treatment for You

Body contouring treatments vary in how they work, how they feel, and what they target, so your treatment plan should be based on your specific goals. A consultation helps determine which approach best aligns with your priorities, lifestyle, and treatment preferences. We offer several non-surgical body contouring options that can be used alone or in combination, depending on the areas you want to treat.

Body Contouring Frequently Asked Questions

Is body contouring a weight loss treatment?

Body contouring is not a weight loss treatment in the traditional sense. It is designed to refine and reshape specific areas of the body by targeting stubborn fat pockets, improving muscle definition, and tightening skin. The primary goal is not to produce significant weight reduction, but to target and refine specific areas for aesthetic reasons. With this in mind, the best candidates for body contouring are patients who are at or near a healthy weight and looking to address localized concerns that haven’t responded to diet and exercise. For patients who need to lose a more substantial amount of weight first, we may recommend starting with our medical weight loss program or GLP-1 therapy before beginning a contouring protocol.

How many body contouring sessions will I need?

The ideal number of sessions depends on the treatment, the areas being treated, and your individual goals. As a general guideline, PHYSIQ Muscle Sculpting patients typically benefit from a series of sessions spaced about one week apart, while Venus Legacy body contouring generally involves six to eight sessions on a similar schedule. Infrared sauna can be used more frequently as part of an ongoing wellness routine. During your consultation, Renee Pinlac will review your goals and recommend a treatment plan tailored to your specific needs.

Are non-surgical body contouring treatments painful?

Most patients find non-surgical body contouring treatments to be comfortable. PHYSIQ uses deep heat and electrical muscle stimulation. The sensation is often compared to an intense workout while lying still. Venus Legacy feels similar to a warm massage with gentle suction. Infrared sauna is deeply relaxing for most patients. None of the body contouring treatments we offer at De La Belle require anesthesia, numbing cream, or recovery time.

Who is a good candidate for body contouring?

Good candidates for non-surgical body contouring are generally adults who are in overall good health, are at or near a stable weight, and have specific areas of concern (including stubborn abdominal fat, reduced muscle tone, loose skin following weight loss, or postpartum changes) that haven’t improved with exercise and nutrition alone. Body contouring is not recommended for patients who are pregnant, have active skin infections in the treatment area, or have certain pacemakers or metal implants.

Can body contouring help with loose skin after weight loss?

Yes, to a degree. Non-surgical body contouring treatments like Venus Legacy use radiofrequency energy to stimulate collagen production, which can produce significant improvements in mild to moderate skin laxity. This makes these treatments particularly well-suited for patients who have lost weight and are left with skin that didn’t fully bounce back. That said, significant excess skin following major weight loss may ultimately require surgical intervention. We will always give you an honest assessment of what non-surgical treatment can realistically achieve for your situation.

How long do body contouring results last?

Results vary depending on the treatment used and how well patients maintain a healthy lifestyle afterward. Fat cells that are reduced through body contouring do not regenerate, so those results tend to be long-lasting when weight remains stable. Muscle toning results from PHYSIQ can diminish over time without continued activity, and skin tightening achieved through Venus Legacy may benefit from occasional maintenance sessions. Maintaining a balanced diet, staying active, and attending follow-up treatments as recommended will help you preserve your results long term.
